Headcovering in the News

I was searching the internet for new links to add for headcoverings and modest dress and came across this USA Today article from 2006!  I got so excited!!  Crazy, I know, but it is exciting to me to come across an article that discussed Christian "haircovering".  The article did not focus on sects that normally cover, but rather mainline Christians who are choosing to cover and wear more modest clothing.

This was written in 2006!!  Back in 2006 I hadn't even heard about headcovering except for what I had seen in Amish settlements but I had absolutely no clue why they wore it.

Here's the story for anyone who would like to read it.  Rather simple article, but I was still happy to see it.

  1. Thanks for sharing this Chelsea! The author seems to think that head covering is a more modern movement, but I have quite a few books on head covering that were written long before the advent of the Internet. So writers are just taking their convictions to the Web instead of the publishing houses. Also, blogging has played a huge part in women being able to share their convictions with each other, as you well know.

The author also failed to realize, or point out, that going WITHOUT a covering is the more modern trend, not the other way around. Women have been wearing coverings for centuries, and it wasn't until the late 1800s early 1900s that they began to remove them.

    God Bless!
