The Lord is my...

My roommate absolutely loved her dress. But me on the otherhand, ugh. There are so many things about it I wish she would let me fix, but she doesn't care :) I have much higher standards on how my clothing and kapps look than she does...or maybe we should say I have a much more detailed eye when it comes to these things! I am comparing the dress I made her to the one I made with her help and the one I made with her help fits so much better, but she loves this one anyway. Guess I need to let it go eh?

My first dress I absolutely hate. I don't think I will ever wear it. The pattern I used didn't get adjusted enough so I had about an inch of extra material on each side from my torso through my hips. I tried to fix it simply by taking in the seams last night but now the seams aren't even and it's visible to the eye. Another thing is I apparantly needed to put darts in the back of my dress (even though the pattern didn't tell me to) because it just hangs there and I hate how it looks/feels on me. Oh well. My roommate said she would fix it for me so I guess I will see how it turns out in the very end.

Something I have been wanting to post for quite a while now and kept forgetting what it was is a list of everything the Bible calls our Lord. It is fairly long, but I hope it will be a blessing to someone just as it was for me.

  1. Thanks for sharing those are so inspiring to read all that our Father is for us! :-)

And about the dress, yes you're supposed to dart the front & back (well if it's a cape dress pattern which I think it was right?). I hope you can fix it!

  2. I did a mini-fix with putting some elastic in the sides and it worked for the most part. I have to fix the sides anyway because this pattern bubbles over the hips and I forgot about that when I cut it out. I have since taken that part out of the pattern :) But none of my other cape dresses have darts in the back on the top piece, they have pleats on the skirt and so I didn't think to put darts in the top. I will next time :)

  3. Oh all of our dresses here have darts in the front & back & ONLY use pleats not gathering. I think that way fits nice & looks neat personally. I am glad you got everything figured out with the pattern & dress! Do you plan on wearing the dress now? :-) Where did you get the pattern?

  4. I don't use gathering for dresses. My roommate's full aprons I use gathering for and I think it looks nice :) I don't know that I did get everything figured out with that dress... it bubbles in my sides still. Oh well. And I have no clue if I figured out my pattern. It should at least be a little better, but we will see when I put together this next dress. I was hoping to wear the dresses, but if I don't like them then I will just keep looking for dresses at thrift stores and I got the pattern from a friend :)
